No matter who you are, where you are, or what you believe about our society, and the future of the planet, you want to make money just like I want to make money.
Hate it here, but here we are.
We’re not gonna break the Matrix today, so let’s do what we can where we are with what we’ve got, shall we?
E-commerce is almost 30 years old, so the good news is the means and opportunities are available and versatile. Anybody, legit ANY BODY can succeed with it.
At the top of the new year, in 2023, if you’re still fixin’ to cry about about wanting to make money online behold the breakdown I’m about to throw on you:
TL;DR – To make money online fast, you need a payments account. You need a product (an e-book is the easiest). You need a simple delivery process, and a promotional strategy.
I’ve been making money online here and there for the better part of a decade, and consistently for the last 6 years through my own business and this very website.
Here’s two basic facts about earning money with an online business: You can invest money in advertising, or you can invest time in planning, organizing, and growing YOUR business. Pick one, or quit yer bitchin.
I talk to people almost every single week on Twitter who “want to” and “wish” they could, and yet they haven’t made/updated their portfolio. They haven’t set up their payment accounts. They’re still uploading lazy, sloppy, poorly lit product photos to social media.
It me 🙋🏽♀️ I’m bitches. I’m tired of boring excuses and circular conversations.
Listen, if you want to make money online you can and if you wish you could the big gag is you have to show up to claim your bag. Okay, so what can you do today, right now, today, this moment, this hour to start making money online?
No bullshit huh? But guess what, a lot of people don’t even figure that part out.
First things first, open a new tab RIGHT NEOW and go to stripe.com or square.com, or paypal.com and create a business payments account. RIGHT RIGHT NEOW. Sign up with the email address you actually use/check often. Create these accounts IMMEDIATELY. RIGHT NOW. Not tomorrow. RIGHT NEOW, as you’re reading this blog.
What you’ll need: An email address. A bank account. An attention span that can get you through the sign up process. Your social security number. Possibly a scanned photo of government issued ID. If you’re able to read this blog, or if you were ever able to figure out how to create a twitter or IG profile I’m going to assume you’re not a complete moron. I’m going to assume that you have the intelligence of at LEAST a 15 year old, and that you can manage to make the effort to sign up for a payment account within in 20 minutes.
You put off making a payment account, but you want to make money online? Add that up for me. In the comments below 👇🏽
The quickest product you can sell online is an e-book. Your e-book can be about anything. You can even sell an e-book that you didn’t write. Get your head in the game and find something you actually give a shit about it. Either your time, effort, expertise, skill, knowledge, or something that someone else made. Find it. It’s there. It exists. Go look for it.
What you’ll need: 24 CUPS of Self-belief that you’re gonna drink every single day. A physical or digital product or service that you have a positive feeling about. Do not try to sell anything you don’t know about, or that you’re not absolutely completely OBSESSED with. If you can’t explain the product quickly, repeatedly, and in the exact same way every single time then you got no business trying to make it a business.
So you’ve got a way to get paid. You’ve got a thing to get paid for. Your next step is figuring out the delivery process.
The absolute easiest and fastest way to make money online is selling e-books. If you want easy, sell e-books. The process goes like this: someone clicks buy, you get an email notification, you send the e-book. The most simple version of this is automated, meaning you do nothing and the buyer receives the e-book instantly.
But setting up automations if you’re not a tech person isn’t easy or simple. Also, if you don’t have a website with e-commerce functionality, then you don’t really have a means of creating automation. Gumroad solves this problem for newbies. You can sell your e-book on Gumroad and it processes your payments and automatically gives buyers access to the product.
If you’re thinking about starting an e-commerce business with physical products, or becoming a freelancer, I explain the planning process for both here.
What you’ll need: an email address exclusively for business sales/communication and your own website or a seller profile on a major website (think Gumroad, Etsy). You also want to explain to your buyers how you deliver the goods. If you’re not using automations, be sure to clearly state when they can expect their item to arrive.
Promoting your product is the easiest part of the whole thing. All you have to do is post pictures and links. The fastest way to promote a product is on social media. You can schedule your promotional tweets and Instagram posts. You can make videos on TikTok about your e-book. The important thing is to be consistent and to clearly show the value of your product.
What you’ll need: A social media profile (duh). A script, and several variations. Your promotional content should say what you’re selling, what value it adds to buyers’ lives, and how to purchase the product.
Don’t overcomplicate it. Don’t sweat your e-book topic, or your social promo. Want to make a real plan? Book that hour bb. I’ve been there. I’ve done it. I know.
I know websites, writing, and heavy promotion. I also know you need to stop doubting yourself and book your call with me.
