STOP TAKING CRAPPY PHOTOS
I’ve had too many client who took struggle photos. When you know better, you do better. Behold, a step-by-step lesson in taking better brand & product photos.
Make sure there is light facing the product. That means, the light source should be behind you. If it’s daytime and there’s natural light, don’t use your flash. If you’re inside, try to photograph near a window.
If you’re inside and there’s no natural light, use a lamp – and your flash. Take multiple photos, moving the lamp from left to right.
Level your phone evenly to the object. Hold the phone as straight as possible. Whether you’re taking the photo from above (think food photos) or straight on, try not to tilt your camera forward. Keep it as straight and still as possible.
For beginners, always make sure your object is in the center of the frame. If you’re taking product photos on your phone, like most small business owner, make sure what you’re photographing is exactly in the middle of the screen.
Tap the screen to bring the camera into crisp focus.
Put a black cloth down on a table.
Put your product on the table.
Clear the space of anything that would distract.
Add anything related to the product that might compliment it.
Try to photograph against a white wall.
Get a lamp and direct it toward the product.
Level your camera to the object.
Center the object on the screen.
Tap the screen to bring the camera into crisp focus.
Use your flash.
Try it without the flash.
Bright, crisp photos boost your marketing
Really get into the habit of tapping the screen to bring the camera into focus.
You’re welcome. Please stop taking shitty photos now.
